Description:

Dicey Rollin' is an exploration-based adventure game where you roll around as a newly formed dice hive-mind legion, trying to escape from a casino. The challenge comes from the dice's limited perception of its surroundings. It's up to you to find ways to use your dice legionaries to navigate through the maze-like casino, find keys for different types of doors to progress, and avoid the patrolling guards.

The Story:

A single dice, even though it's a truly powerful artifact capable of deciding fates, only has a very limited life essence to it. However, a group of dice, under the right circumstances, can combine and become one. That is exactly what happened in the casino's storage room, where the dice's frustrations of misuse gave birth to a new entity. There also happened to be a crate of display case antique Roman artifacts nearby, and thus, a dice legion was born, intent on rolling as far away as possible from such a wicked place.

Ingredients:

Legion - There are many of you; one could say it's a whole legion of dice. You also happened to form in a crate of antique Roman artifacts.

Atypical usage of dice - A dice-formed hive-mind that sacrifices parts of itself to expand its sense of surroundings.

Sense - Dice aren't renowned for their perfect eyesight or keen hearing. Their ability to perceive their environment is very limited. Luckily for you, you sense everything each of your dice senses.

Unexpected connection - No major spoilers here. Let's just say that some mechanics work a bit differently than one would expect from the look of things. Also, the final scoring uses an unusual metric (it has something to do with dice).

Assets:

All of the assets were made during the jam, with the exception of the music and the animations for the guards.

All of the sound effects were made by us using real dice (thanks Trampod, we really didn't lose any of them, promise!), a squeaky chair, elevator doors, and others. Loads of fun.

Oh yeah, and there's dice puns.

Also, the name Dicey Rollin' sounds a bit like the cult classic song Ridin' lyric: "They see me rollin' ". Get it?
